1 | How to Set Goals with Soul
Woohoo, it’s finally here, 2021! are you excited? Are you ready for it?
In my previous video, I told you I’m not setting them up the usual way, and that this time I’m focusing on goals that make my heart and soul happy.
In this video, I’m showing you the step by step process I follow to set my Goals with Soul. Goals that will make my whole self happy. Especially after 2020, I realized it’s more important to strive for what will really make you happy instead of reaching out for vanity metrics/goals.
So, if you want to set goals that make you truly happy, watch the video and follow along 😉
This is the planner I’m using this 2021, it’s a Digital Planner for iPad and Android tablet, phone, laptop, etc. You can use it with GoodNotes, Notability, Noteshelf, Xodo, or Zoom Notes: https://www.easydigitalplanners.com/product/2021-daily-teals-binded-portrait/
And, here you can download the worksheet to use during your goal setting, just click the link, and a PNG file will download.
Now get ready to make 2021 your best year yet, and let me know in the comments, what’s one of your goals with soul?

Karen.
2 | How to Plan your Goals with Soul
2 | How to Plan your Goals with Soul
Did you set your Goals with Soul with the help of the previous lesson?
How did you feel about setting your goals this way?
And, are you ready to create a step by step plan to achieve your Goals with Soul?
This is one of my favorite things about the process of setting and achieving goals, I love imagining and visualizing the whole process from going from A to B, and having a clear roadmap makes me feel so much more secure and confident about accomplishing my goals.
Ok, the steps are quite simple and easy to follow, make sure you have your planner ready, and click play and follow along with each video.
1 – Set 1 to 3 goals per quarter.
As I mentioned in the previous lesson, it’s best to set fewer goals so you can devote all your focus and attention to them. The number of goals you set will be determined by the time you have available, but make sure you don’t overwhelm yourself.
2 – Make them smaller and tinier
The secret to accomplishing big scary goals is to divide them into small digestible chunks, so the first task on this step is to take each one of your big goals and turn them into smaller goals, one per month.
Now, maybe your small monthly goals still seem daunting, or maybe you don’t quite know how you’ll get there. Well, this step is to clarify all that, it’s about making these monthly goals even smaller, so tiny that they are easy steps or tasks you can make on a daily or weekly basis.
If you don’t know what steps you need to take to attain X small goal, then it’s time to make your research, google it out, ask to people you know who’ve achieved that, then come back to your planner and integrate all those answers into a step-by-step list of to-dos.
In the video below, I show you my process of dissecting a goal, this is a very big goal that’s been in my heart for a very long time: moving to Dubai
So, click play, follow the lesson, and divide each of your big goals into 3 monthly small goals.
3 – Schedule it!
Ok, now your goals seem a lot more achievable, right? If they don’t seem digestible yet, you need to break them down a little more. And once you do that it’s time to put each task into your calendar.
To make sure you actually do the thing, you need to schedule it first!
In the video below, I show what I do to plan my months and weeks according to the goal I’m working on, and how I do it in my planner. Now click play, and complete this step!
IT’S YOUR TURN!
To have a clear roadmap towards the end goal, you need to know what you need to do and when, so before moving on to the next lesson make sure you complete this one! It’s going to save you tons of time and headaches, and you’ll feel you can actually conquer your goals, I promise 🙂
With love,
Karen.
3 | How to Have Maximum Progress
3 | How to Have Maximum Progress
Now it’s all about the action you take and how bad you want to accomplish your goals, so in today’s lesson I’m going to share 3 of my favorite ways to make sure I keep making progress, and in the next lesson, you’ll see my go-to ways to avoid procrastination.
1 – Do the thing you dread the most FIRST
This is one of the most useful things I’ve ever done when getting something done. And it’s the thing that most successful people do and recommend.
I first read it in the book ‘Eat that Frog’ by Brian Tracy and his daughter. And quite recently from Marisa Peer. The premise of this exercise is to do the thing you don’t want to do / the task you scheduled for today that will help you to accomplish your goal / the thing you know will take you to the next level but you’re afraid of doing (or feel like putting it off) FIRST THING IN THE MORNING.
Whether it’s exercising, reading, making a call, working on your artwork, filling up your Resume, scheduling a meeting… whatever it is, do it first.
If you need to wake up a bit earlier make that commitment, and go earlier to bed as well.
Doing the tougher thing first during your day will instantly remove it from the equation, you won’t have to worry about it nor have it in the back of your mind all day long. You’ll feel accomplished first thing in the morning, getting an extra boost of energy. And, you’ll be one step closer to that beautiful goal you set.
Pushing the things we don’t want to do to somewhere else in the future just keeps them there – in the uncertainty of the future. You might feel too stressed, too tired, or too bored to do the thing later in the day, but this year is not a year to take any chances on your happiness, so do that dreadful scary thing first, and then…
2 –Â Celebrate yourself!
Every time you accomplish a milestone, every week that you push yourself out of your own limitations, and every time you take action (even if it’s tiny) CELEBRATE YOURSELF.
Create this positive reward framework in your mind and life, so that every time it becomes easier and easier to work towards your goals.
You don’t need to launch a big party every time you complete your workouts, but let yourself know you’re proud of your hard work and reward yourself for that.
I love giving myself some ‘me time’ to play some games or read a novel or fiction, as soon as I complete my First Dreaddy/Scary Thing or later in the evening before winding down. I like to get a new outfit or pair of shoes every time I drop a size. And, I like to indulge with a gold ring or some jewelry when I achieve one of my big quarterly goals.
These celebrations can be as small or big as you want, and as small or big as your goals. You don’t need to stress too much about them, it’s all about making the process even more fun, and it’s about making of working for your goals something fun to stick deep inside your subconscious mind.
Now, take 10 minutes and brainstorm how you want to celebrate each of these:
- Your daily tasks
- Your weekly tasks
- Achieving your monthly goals
- Accomplishing your quarterly goals
3 – Track your progress
This is another thing that keeps me the most motivated along the way because I can actually see how far I’ve come, and it makes me want to push a bit harder, work a bit longer, do a bit more, and of course, keep on going.
The easiest ways of keeping track of your progress are by ticking off the tasks in your to-do list (planner or calendar) or having a habits tracker page where you jot down when you completed the task.
Another way that’s pretty handy and powerful, especially for health and fitness goals, is to take pictures of yourself and put them into your planner with the dates, weight, size, and health stats.
If you’re working on your creativity or your artwork, you can take pictures as well, put them into your planner or journal, and add a short paragraph of what you did, how confident you felt, and how much fun you had.
And one of my favorites, that I try to do every week, or at least every month, is to journal and write down all the things I did that week/month, how I felt about them, how I felt about myself tackling all that stuff, and how close I feel at this moment from getting my goal done.
You can pick your favorite way of tracking your progress, or the one that’s easier for you and that you know you’ll be consistent on using.
ABOVE ALL REMEMBER THAT OUR AIM AT ACHIEVING OUR GOALS WITH SOUL IS TO HAVE A BALANCE OF WORK AND FUN
Now it’s your turn to take action, celebrate it, and track it. From now on, either at the end or the beginning of the week, take 15-20 minutes maximum to determine the following:
- What are the tasks you need to do first each day?
- How will you celebrate your progress this week?
- Where will you track your progress?
TELL ME IN THE COMMENTS
What are the tasks you dread the most? And how will you celebrate yourself when you tackle them?
With Love,
Karen.
4 | How to Punch Procrastination in the Face
4 | How to Punch Procrastination in the Face
You are ready to make these goals a reality, you were born for them, and you’re on fire right now because you have a clear plan to follow, but at some point, as days go by, you might feel a little less motivated.
Totally normal, you’re not broken, I promise.
It is not that you need more motivation or more inspiration, it’s just our human nature, and how the world is set up, that we are always looking for the next big thing, something that catches our interest.
So at some point, it’ll come down to what you’re willing to give up in order to get what you want. Sometimes it’s something simple like giving up feeling unmotivated, and doing the thing anyway – and yeah sometimes simple doesn’t mean easy, right? Other times it can be giving up pizza or the midday nap.
It’s about prioritizing your action steps and reminding yourself why you want what you want.
So next time you face a dilemma like this, I want you to breathe deeply and remind yourself why you want this, why is it so important for you? How do you see yourself in 1 to 3 years after you accomplish this goal?
I want you to evoke the feelings that you will feel when you accomplish these beautiful goals. How will you feel? Proud of yourself? Tremendously happy? Safe, beautiful, confident? Think and feel and emanate all these feelings, try with all your heart, and feel how you will feel when you achieve these goals.
And once you’re all pumped up because of these joyous feelings, I want you to think of the next smallest step that you can take right now. Then, count from 1 to 5 and do that small thing.
I do all this whenever I feel stuck and whenever I feel like putting off and off my steps and my to-dos.
As soon as I remember why I want this so hard and how I will feel, everything gets back on track again for me.
And this five-second rule, where you count from 1 to 5 and then do the thing, always always always gives me the momentum not just to do the first smallest thing I can think of, but also to keep working and keep doing the things that will be beneficial to my goals.
IF YOU NEED EXTRA HELP
If you need extra help you can read the 5-second rule by Mel Robbins, you can also try meditation or the EFT technique to help you release the resistance you may have about working on your goals.
EFT has been one of the biggest helpers in my life for the last 3 years. It helped me reduce my stress levels, eradicate the fear of the unknown, and it’s been the tool that helped me to release all the resistance I had towards working out and eating healthy.
Meditation for sure it’s another great and amazing tool to get clarity around what I want and how I can achieve it, and of course to gain clarity and wisdom around the effects of doing the thing or not doing the thing.
Just do something, even if it’s cleaning up, taking a walk, playing with your dogs or pets… Moving your body and doing whatever will help you immensely to gain some momentum and just move forward.
So keep this lesson handy for whenever procrastination wants to know your door, and instead punch it in the face 😛
See you in the next, and final, lesson.
With Love,
Karen.
5 | You Are Ready + One Last Prompt
5 | You Are Ready + One Last Prompt
Woohoooooo!
So you’re now all armed up with your Goals with Soul, a plan to tackle one step at a time, and some simple yet powerful strategies to stay on track and get motivated.
In case you fall off the wagon, you can go back to whatever of the preview steps, whether it is coming up with new goals or planning or scheduling again – this is your process and there is no rush. And definitely, I want to encourage you to enjoy the journey and setbacks as well because even when they may not be pleasing they’re always full of wonderful lessons.
Great, so now I want to give you the last prompt to actually accomplish these goals with soul and make this year your best year no matter what.
It’s time to journal it all out
This is something I do at every end of the month, and it’s been one of the key tools to keep me motivated and also to pivot whenever I need to.Â
So get ready with your planner, you can use the monthly review page at the end of every month, or you can create your own spread by using a blank page.
And, this is what you will Journal about:
- What did you accomplish this past month?
- How did you feel during this month while working towards your goals?
- What worked well? and what didn’t work well?
- what can you improve? and how can you make next month better?
- are you resisting anything? what is it? how can you transform this resistance into excitement or curiosity?
Once you finish your monthly journaling make sure you adjust your schedule and tasks as needed, and take this into account:
1. Allocate time to work on the fears or the resistance that came up this month, to release them all and be able to do your best every day
2. Schedule time to work on the things that you need to improve. Similar to the point above, but maybe you need to work on a skill, or you need to improve your website (resume, or whatever it is)
3. And, tap into your strengths and into the things that felt easy and fun. Do more of this, whenever possible 😉
NOW IT’S YOUR TURN!
Now it’s your turn to keep working on your goals, thinking about making progress, tracking it all, reviewing your steps, and repeating until you accomplish those beautiful goals with soul.
I adored writing and creating this course for you!
I’ll keep updating it according to how I keep working on my own goals and according to how I keep making progress, but I’ve been developing this process over the past 10 years and I’ve condensed it all right in this mini-course, so I wish with all my heart it helped you, and it keeps helping you over the course of this and the next years to come.
With SO MUCH Love,
Karen.
